Novosoft Announces Backup Seeding Service

Novosoft an international software development and IT consulting company announced that they will soon be offering a new option of initial backup seeding as a part of their Online Backup service. The seeding process will be based on sending an initial copy of HDD data to Novosoft’s storage center and then using Online Backup to safeguard subsequent changes. Transferring a full drive backup to an online server can take several days or even weeks to get completed and our users frequently ask if it can be made in a more convenient form. The new feature of initial backup seeding will completely change the experience of offsite backups. Instead of copying so much data over the Internet, our customers will be able to create a local snapshot of their drives, physically send it to our storage and then enjoy the power and simplicity of online incremental backups provided by our service.

There are plenty of places you can go to get some free online storage, which is nice when you have a mobile device that has limited internal memory like the Google Nexus 7 or the Apple iPad.  Google Drive is one option for those looking for online storage and since the site has launched, Dropbox has stepped up their game and has recently announced 100 million users.  According to the Google Drive website, users will start with 5GB of free storage, can sync files from their computer, access on the go with the dedicated mobile app and can create, share and manage all of the files stored there.

According to some online reviews Dropbox allows you to sync files with little effort, offers a wide variety of app for all operating systems and has very dependable servers.

As a freemium service DropBox brings a couple different price options for users starting with the Basic which gives you just 2GB of storage at no cost.  If you have a bunch of friends you can actually earn more storage with the use of the referral system, which will get you an additional 16GB at the most at 500MB per referral.  If you need a lot more space you can get 100GB of $99 per year, 200GB of $199 per year or 500GB of storage for just $499 per year.  DropBox also offers an option for small businesses and that plan starts at $795 per year for 1TB of online storage for up to five users.

Review: Surface mostly bridges work-play divide

I have been conditioned just like any other consumer to expect certain things from certain companies. When it comes to tablets, I expect Apple's to look and feel amazing, Google's to seamlessly blend online services such as Gmail and search and Amazon's to have easy access to its online storage.

So when Microsoft came out with its first tablet computer, the Surface, I wanted and expected a machine that is good for work. After all its Windows operating system runs most of the world's computers particularly in corporate environments.

The Surface is Microsoft's first attempt at a general-purpose computer. In the past, it made the software and left it to other companies to make the machines. But to catch the tablet wave led by Apple's iPad, Microsoft felt it needed to make its own device.
