NetApp Inc. said it named Jay Kidd as its chief technology officer and Jonathan Kissane as its chief strategy officer, as the data-storage company said it hopes the new appointments will help position it for its next phase of growth.

Mr. Kidd will be tasked with shaping NetApp's technology plans and will report to Manish Goel, executive vice president of product operations. Prior to his latest appointment, Mr. Kidd led product strategy and development for NetApp's data management and management products. He previously worked as chief technology officer at Brocade Communications Systems Inc. (BRCD), which makes switches and software used to connect corporate servers and data-storage systems.
